Nathan Kolb began his career in woodworking as a member of the first class of the Chattanooga Woodworking Academy in 2013. Apprenticing under Master Craftsman Bill Carney, he learned the foundations of the craft including proper milling of lumber, traditional bench joinery techniques and furniture design and construction. In 2016, he joined Haskel Sears Designs as their lead woodworker, where under the mentorship of the implacable Matt Sears he familiarized himself with the finer points of residential and commercial carpentry while continuing to hone his furniture making skills. By 2019, Nathan had established his own shop in the North Chattanooga neighborhood. With a focus on heirloom-quality furniture and fixtures, his hope is to contribute to a renewed culture of local craft that values the quality and durability of handmade goods over mass-manufactured products.

In 2021, Nathan partnered with friend and former co-worker Nate Penman. Prior to his nearly decade working as foreman of Haskel Sears, Nate lived in Flagstaff, Arizona and apprenticed under Master Craftsman Achim Haggenmuller for many years. Nate is highly skilled in bench joinery as well as casework and cabinetry, and has a special affinity for Craftsman style and enjoys utilizing kumiko inlays in his work
